Friends of Scouting (FOS) is the name given to Scouting's annual financial support campaign. The FOS Campaign is broken into two divisions, Family and Community. The council's operation, including upkeep and maintenance of our camping properties, registrations and record keeping services, and our field staff, are all funded by private contributions received through the FOS Campaign.

Our Council receives no government funding and no United Way Community Care dollars, and 100% of youth and adult registration fees are transmitted to the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America, or used directly to pay insurance costs.

Family FOS: The cost of delivering the full Scouting program for one Scout is $200. Each Scouting family is asked to support the Garden State Council at a minimum level of $52, $1 a week. 

Incentives: When you make a pledge of $25 or more you will recieve the "I Support Scouting" magnet. Families that donate $125 or more will receive the "I Will Do My Best" shoulder patch (CSP).  Adults that volunteer to be FOS presenters will be awarded the special "2018 FOS Presenter" patch.  Every unit that hold an FOS presentation will receive the "2018 Family Presentation" ribbon.

Families that have the ability to provide additional support are encouraged to do so. Currently only 33% of our Scouting families pledge their financial support to Garden State Council.
