Beaver Days

We know that a strong Scouting program is one that provides a variety of activities and experiences for Scouts of all ages. Thanks to the hard work of many volunteers in our council, the 6 camps of the Garden State Council are able to provide camping and program opportunities. To aid in the continued growth of our camps, we have scheduled several Beaver Days at our camps, and invite your unit to join us!

What is Beaver Day? Beaver Day is a day long program during which units and individuals volunteer their time towards camp improvement projects.

Who can participate in Beaver Day? Beaver Day is open to all levels of Scouting and projects will be age appropriate. If you are a tradesman (ie: carpenter, electrician, roofer, plumber, etc) or have a certain skill that you would like to offer to the camp during this time, please let us know.

What type of projects will be completed? While projects at each camp may vary, examples of projects may include moving branches, painting, cutting firewood, general cleaning, preparing program areas, and clearing trails.

Should I bring any equipment? While some supplies are available at camp, we ask that volunteers bring gloves and basic landscaping-type tools. If you will be volunteering your specialized skills, we encourage you to bring your own tools as a limited number of tools may be available.

When is Beaver Day?  The Garden State Council will be offering 3 Beaver Days this spring:

  • Roosevelt Scout Reservation: March 28, 2015
  • Pine Tree Education & Environmental Center: April 18, 2015
  • Pine Hill Scout Reservation: May 16, 2015

Tentative Timeline: registration will begin at 8:00am with projects beginning at 9:00am. Projects are expected to wrap up at 5:00pm. Lunch will be provided to all participants.

While there is no cost for this event, we do ask that all participants pre-register online. This will ensure we will have adequate food for lunch and can properly plan projects & materials prior to your arrival.
