STEM Scouts

STEM Scouts learn about programming and teamwork. Scouts challenge each other to program a rover robot through an obstacle course.  STEM Scouts use math to extrapolate the length of homemade bungee cords. The goal is to provide the biggest thrill to their “dummy dolls” without hitting the ground. STEM Scouts learn the Scout Law Cheerful while having fun extracting DNA from strawberries. At the end of the experiment, Scouts take their DNA home! STEM Scouts learn about 3-D printing during a field trip to Rowan College of Burlington County at the Mt. Laurel Campus.

STEM Scouts is a co-ed program that combines the values and character building of the Scouting program with hands-on STEM activities. STEM Scouts is open to boys and girls in 3rd through 12th grade. There are exciting modules during the academic school year to give youth experience with many STEM topics.  STEM Scouts will explore a variety of fast paced, thought provoking and fun activities in science, technology, engineering and math.

For an entire week of STEM activities join us for our Summer Program.   The Summer Program was a huge success.  The youth enjoyed doing fun experiments in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  Highlights included:  Exploding Watermelon, Wind Tunnel, Stop Motion Animation, Guest Speakers, Drones, Cork Launcher, Shrinking Can, Marble Coaster, and more!

If you missed the fun, you can join us next year for the summer program.   For a full year of fun, join a STEM Scout Lab near you!

STEM Scouts in Space - Congrats!

Congratulations to STEM Scout in lab #3002 on their winning experiment proposal for a Cube-In–Space.  The youth thought about whether there would be a chance for people to make pizza when Mars would be colonized.   The proposed an experiment in a global research competition to study the impact of radiation on yeast fermentation.  Their experiment won the competition and is set to take off in a NASA research project in September.   We look forward to hearing more about the experiment when it is completed.  Congratulations to the STEM Scouts for their winning research project.  Good job!
