Garden State Council Mandatory Training for Adult Scout Leaders
All leaders on the upcoming 2015 Garden State Council Unit Charters must be Position Specific trained; along with having current Youth Protection Training. This includes all Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, Cubmasters and Assistant Cubmasters, Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders, Venturing Crew Advisors and Assistant Advisors, Varsity Coaches and Assistant Coaches, Ship Mates and Skippers, Committee Chairs, and Committee Members. All leaders and committee members must complete their basic training or they will not be registered in that position. Recent or new registered leaders at charter renewal will be able to reregister but must be trained before the next renewal period. This will be in effect starting at the November/December 2014 recharter period.
What is required to wear the "Trained" emblem
Trained Leader emblem, No. 00280, is available for all leaders who have completed the basic training program appropriate to their positions. The emblem is worn on the left sleeve immediately below and touching the emblem of office for which it was earned. Commissioners wear this emblem between the emblem of office and the Arrowhead Honor. Boy Scout junior leaders who have completed troop junior leader training, den chiefs who have completed the den chief training conference, and elected Venturers who have completed the crew officer's seminar may wear the Trained Leader emblem beneath their badge of office. Youth Protection must be completed and current within two years of the current date.
